Simple Classic Hotchpotch (Khichuri)

Simple classic hotchpotch is a traditional Bengali recipe. It’s a staple in South Asian countries. It’s a type of rice mixed with different spices and flavors. I love khichuri, but when it’s raining outside, khichuri is a must. It is so simple to make with just a few ingredients. Let’s make this one.

Method:

Step 1:

This hotchpotch or khichuri recipe includes only one easy step. Put all the ingredients together in a pan. I used a mix of red and yellow lentils. You can also use mixed lentils.
I added 3 cups of water to the pan and covered it with a lid.

Step 2:

Cook for 15-20 minutes on medium to low heat. Stir the rice when it’s halfway done. If you want the rice to be softer, add some water. Check for salt and spices. You can add more veggies if you want. And that’s it. Enjoy this dish with some mango pickles, mango chutney, or any beef, egg, or mutton curry. It tastes delicious in every way.
